In our November newsletter we outlined the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Prosecution of Offenders Bill. This is a Bill which looks to reform, amongst other things, civil litigation funding and costs.
In short, the Bill will affect those looking to pursue compensation claims by changing how the claims are funded.
The Bill is still going through the House of Lords however, when it was last read a number of issues were raised. In particular a number of points were raised as to how the Bill will affect those who suffer with asbestos conditions.
At present, no decisions have been finalised and the Bill is still going through the Committee stage. This is where each line of the Bill is examined and any amendments are made.
