Friday 1st July is Action Mesothelioma Day 2011. This is a day to raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos and the conditions that it causes.
This year’s theme is Asbestos Awareness, focusing on the prevention of asbestos exposure. Many people believe that asbestos is a thing of the past and no longer something to worry about. Unfortunately, this is not the case as any building built before 2000 may contain asbestos. DIY enthusiasts and tradesmen should be aware of the dangers of asbestos, the forms in which it can be found and what to do if asbestos is discovered.
We have prepared a fact sheet in order to promote Action Mesothelioma Day and asbestos awareness – if you would like a copy please contact us and we will arrange to send a one to you.
There are many events happening all over the country to mark the day.
Helena Jones, Head of our Asbestos Disease Department will be attending an event organised by the Chester and Merseyside Asbestos Victims Support Groups at Wallasey Town Hall. The event runs from 10:30am to 3pm, there will be speakers throughout the day and a dove release in memory of all those that have been lost due to mesothelioma at 12pm.
